Fair Debt Collection Practices Act

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is there for the consumer's protection from absusive collections.  It explains who the collection agency can talk to, during what hours they can call, etc.  It is a very LONG act so for assistance email me at ramcol@yahoo.com or go to http://www.creditdoc.biz/.

Why is your credit history so important?

Your credit history follows you for 7 years.  A late payment on one credit card can cause the interest rate on all of your cards to go up.  If you are going to be late on a payment, call the creditor and let them know and ask that they not report the delinquency to the credit bureaus.  Never run from your creditors.  It will only make the situation worse.

Your credit history affects more than the interest rate on a credit card or a loan.  Prospective employers are pulling credit reports to see who will make the best employee.  Apartment complexes are pulling credit reports to see who will make good renters and insurance companies are pulling credit reports to see who will make good insureds.  So you can see how important it is to keep your credit history as clean as possible.

Time Barred Accounts

Did you know that just because the statute of limitations has passed on a debt does not mean collection efforts have to cease? A debt collector can call and send letters on a time barred account but they can not put it on your credit history nor can they take legal action.

Free advice website

I have a website where you can ask credit and collections questions at no charge.  The site is http://www.creditdoc.biz/.  This is a confidential site and no information will be given to a third party.  If I can not answer your question, I will try to find another site that can.

Tax Refunds

Expecting a tax refund?  Why not pay a few past due bills and improve your credit score and let that new flat screen wait.  Your credit score determines more than your ability to get credit.  It can affect your ability to get insurance or a job.  More later on your credit score.

I am qualified to answer questions on the following subjects: FDCPA, FCRA and HIPAA as well as medical collections, general collections and collection agency related issues. I trained these subjects at a nationwide collection agency and customer service call center and audited around 150 representatives for compliance to the laws. I have been in the Collections Industry for over 30 years. I feel that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with compassion and that is the way I trained collectors. Even though I worked for a Collection Agency, I get great satisfaction in helping those who have been mistreated or in need of help with these confusing issues.

I was the Compliance Administrator with a nationwide collection agency and customer service call center-I have trained hundreds of collectors on the above referenced topics. I have been in the medical collections industry for over twenty years and research these topics on a daily basis.
